Vacation, abbreviated

This year we went to Panama City Beach, Florida with my mom's side of the family.  We were supposed to get there Saturday, but since Zach had to work Sunday, we got there around 3:45 Monday morning.  It was a loooong overnight drive there and we were so glad to sleep when we got there!  I was finally on vacation and so happy to know that I had until Saturday to enjoy vacation with my family. Then came Tuesday morning.  I got a call from the secretary at my school corporation building saying that they wanted to interview me for a third grade teaching position at my school.  The really sad news, it was Friday.  In my mind it was a no-brainer.  It wasn't even a question if we were going back early.  It's what I needed to do.  My heart on the other hand was broken.  I had been waiting all year for this and we would only be getting 3 days of vacation.  I will go ahead and tell you know since I found out the other day that I didn't get the job, but my principal is anxious to keep training me up, especially in interviews since he felt that I was mostly just so nervous.  Now, I must say, after we found out about leaving early, we did try to jam as much fun and family time into those days we had.

Monday we woke up and went to the beach, had lunch at Mama Joyce's condo, took a nap, and went to the Hofbrauhaus! We had some delicious German food and dessert and it made me so want to go back to Germany! Hopefully some day soon!

 At the Hofbrauhaus!
 Chandelier
My supper.  It was a lamb sandwich and was sooooooo incredibly spicy I couldn't eat all of it.  It was still so good, but my mouth felt like it was on fire!  I also had some German Potato Salad.
Zach had their Oktoberfest brat and pan fried potatoes.  I don't know if you can tell by my pictures, but both our dishes were giant!
Then, as if we hadn't been nutritionally irresponsible enough, we just had to try Oma's Apple Streusel because we weren't sure if we'd get to go back.  I am so glad we got it, because we didn't have time for another visit!
One of the highlights of the trip was getting to meet the newest addition to the family!  My cousins, Nekayeh and David, welcomed Eden into their family on May 25!  She is such a happy baby and didn't mind being held by all the different people at all!  That makes a grand total of three little great-granddaughters for Mama Joyce!
Speaking of those three, here they are after supper one night!  I may be partial, but aren't they adorable in their smocked outfits?
Eden napped a little while I held her one night! : )
Tuesday night we went to my favorite, Pineapple Willy's so I could get a bucket of their ribs.
 Got them!  Delicious as always!
Wednesday (the 4th of July) it was raining and was supposed to all morning, so Zach, Mama, Suzanne, and I went to Destin to shop at the Outlet Malls!  I got some cute outfits for our niece and nephew and a cute shirt for myself.  I have to say I actually showed some restraint this year.  I know Zach is so proud! ; )

That night we sat on the beach to watch all the fireworks.  I had bought glow sticks at Target a while back to bring thinking that Norah Kate and Lexie would like them.  I think they loved them!  Neither one had ever had them, and it was so fun to see them so excited and amazed by them.  Norah Kate would even ask if you need a connector for your bracelet!  So smart!

This was Thursday morning before we left.  Isn't it beautiful?
Can you see Suzanne and Jonathan out on the sand bar?  It was only about thigh deep most of the mornings!  So much fun!
One last walk on the beach.

Suzanne, Me, Zach, and my cousin, Jonathan.

Our drive back home definitely wasn't great as we hit bad traffic around Montgomery, so it took around 11 hours to get home!  Then of course there was the stress of my interview the next morning.  I wouldn't do anything differently if given the chance again, but I have one prayer for next year.  If I get an interview, please don't let it be the one week of my vacation!  Okay, my pity party is over.  I think you can see we really did have a wonderful time and loved every minute of it!

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

Turns out...

Third grade is not bad at all! The kids are still pretty sweet and are so excited for me to be there and I am excited too! I think it will be fun to see all that they can do and have fun with them. Yesterday I received 5 notes on my desk about how excited that I was there and about how much fun we were going to have. I think they are right! Hopefully I get the hang of them quickly, because I start teaching Science (Mon and Wed), Social Studies(Tues and Thur), and PE (Fri) next week!

What I'm Thankful For...

Hey y'all. It's just Nathana in this post. I figured since I've been alive 20 years, that equals 20 Thanksgivings, so I'm gonna have the 20 things I'm most Thankful for. Here goes nothing! : ) 1. The first thing of course I am thankful for is my salvation through Jesus Christ! Without him I have no hope to be anything! 2. My mom and dad, and the home they raised me in. I could not imagine any parents better than mine, and I'm proud to be their daughter. I'm also thankful they didn't give me away to a farm when I was difficult! 3. My brother and sister. No one else knows all of the trouble we've been in and fun we've had over the years and even though we don't always see eye to eye, I wouldn't trade them for any other siblings. 4. Zachary Scheller. God has blessed me with an even better future husband than I could have ever asked for. My love and respect for him grows each day, and I will be so thankful this June when I can ca...
