On the Mend

I meant to update before now, but figured the people who read the blog have either talked to me or are friends on Facebook.  Zach's surgery went well and he has been slowly, but surely, recovering.  He was gone from us for about 3.5 hours for his surgery and recovery time.  When they finally came to get us to see him at 4:30 p.m., it was all I could do not to sprint back to see him.  The Dr. had also said that he wanted to keep Zach overnight to make sure everything was okay, and so that he could check on him the next day.  Well, I guess the nurses told Zach that, and even though he was still coming out of his anesthesia, he firmly told them several times he wanted to go HOME.  After the Dr. checked him, he agreed that we could go home, which I know Zach was excited about!  We left the hospital around 6:00 p.m. and headed home.  We ordered pizza and just hung out and Zach slept!  A lot!  That night we didn't sleep great however, since we had to get up every 4 hours to take his pain meds, and he usually had to go to the bathroom too.  Those IV fluids will do that to ya!  I think we slept in the living the next 4 nights.

On Wednesday, we went to the Dr. and he took Zach's drain out.  We prayed specifically that the Dr. would be able to take it out and wouldn't have to leave it in any longer.  I think Zach felt a lot better the second the drain was out!  I am not exaggerating when I say that the tube that was in his side was around 10-12 inches long.  No wonder it hurt so badly! We also got the wonderful, wonderful news that all the tissue/ lymph nodes that Dr. Hoover removed were benign.  I know I instantly felt a sense of relief that made me just want to cry.  We are so thankful for that diagnosis.  I know whatever the news we had received, we would be equally thankful for God's provision. But, I am so very thankful we received good news.  I know many prayers of thanks from our families were sent to the Lord that day!!

So here we are 9 days post-op and Zach is on the mend.  He is in a lot of pain, seemingly more that he was in, but I think it is because he is no longer on his pain meds, so he is just feeling it more.  We made it to church today, and I think that really lifted our spirits.  It was so good to see our friends in Sunday School and to see everyone else in the church service.  We know so many people have prayed for us these past few weeks.  The power of prayer works!  We can feel them!  I know Zach is going to get better and better each day and I hope he feels back to himself before too long!  We go back on Wednesday for another follow-up appointment and to get his staples out.  Yay!

In the meantime, I'll leave you with a nice picture of my love and his fearless protector.   Those two are my world!

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

Turns out...

Third grade is not bad at all! The kids are still pretty sweet and are so excited for me to be there and I am excited too! I think it will be fun to see all that they can do and have fun with them. Yesterday I received 5 notes on my desk about how excited that I was there and about how much fun we were going to have. I think they are right! Hopefully I get the hang of them quickly, because I start teaching Science (Mon and Wed), Social Studies(Tues and Thur), and PE (Fri) next week!

What I'm Thankful For...

Hey y'all. It's just Nathana in this post. I figured since I've been alive 20 years, that equals 20 Thanksgivings, so I'm gonna have the 20 things I'm most Thankful for. Here goes nothing! : ) 1. The first thing of course I am thankful for is my salvation through Jesus Christ! Without him I have no hope to be anything! 2. My mom and dad, and the home they raised me in. I could not imagine any parents better than mine, and I'm proud to be their daughter. I'm also thankful they didn't give me away to a farm when I was difficult! 3. My brother and sister. No one else knows all of the trouble we've been in and fun we've had over the years and even though we don't always see eye to eye, I wouldn't trade them for any other siblings. 4. Zachary Scheller. God has blessed me with an even better future husband than I could have ever asked for. My love and respect for him grows each day, and I will be so thankful this June when I can ca...
