Second week of NSM

My oh my, this NSM is almost half over. I can say that we have been doing great! We have stuck to all our meal plans except for Saturday night. Zach had entered the Papa Johns coin toss pizza thing, and he won! (this never happens!) so, on Saturday we got an entirely free large pizza! : ) No spending there! Then on Sunday, Zach's parents took us to QDoba. But like I said, all out other meals have gone as planned. This weeks menu is:
Monday- Chicken enchiladas
Tuesday- Stuffed green peppers
Wednesday- Parmesean chicken sandwiches
Thursday- Honey chicken with rice pilaf
Friday- Sloppy Joes
Saturday- Deery Mac

It is so nice to not have to think about going out for supper or obsessing over ads for all the stuff I want. The only problem is I have to not LOOK at them! Which, I haven't been great about. It doesn't help that I get all kinds of e-mails that are so tempting!

We also get to spend so much time together in the evening because we aren't running around from store to store or to a restaurant. We have also been doing some of the cooking together, which is always fun!

That's all for tonight!

  1. Except for the part where you miss your art teacher friend! All of the your meals sound delicious! But count me out for the Deery Mac. ;-)

  2. Wow, I am a slacker blogger and just saw your comment! I definitely do miss my art teacher friend! Good thing we're doing lunch Wednesday! I need to post my recipes. I'd like to make a tab for them, but am not that blog literate!

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

What I'm Thankful For...

Hey y'all. It's just Nathana in this post. I figured since I've been alive 20 years, that equals 20 Thanksgivings, so I'm gonna have the 20 things I'm most Thankful for. Here goes nothing! : ) 1. The first thing of course I am thankful for is my salvation through Jesus Christ! Without him I have no hope to be anything! 2. My mom and dad, and the home they raised me in. I could not imagine any parents better than mine, and I'm proud to be their daughter. I'm also thankful they didn't give me away to a farm when I was difficult! 3. My brother and sister. No one else knows all of the trouble we've been in and fun we've had over the years and even though we don't always see eye to eye, I wouldn't trade them for any other siblings. 4. Zachary Scheller. God has blessed me with an even better future husband than I could have ever asked for. My love and respect for him grows each day, and I will be so thankful this June when I can ca...

No-spend February

I have always been a "saver" of money, practically since I started receiving it for birthdays and especially since earning it.  I nearly cried when I paid $211 dollars cash for my iPod nano when I was 16. True fact!  So a long time ago I heard of a "Dave Ramsey" type idea of a no-spend month where in your household you pay your bills and buy groceries, and no extras for one month.  Then see how much you save.  Before the new year Zach and I were thinking about plans for this next year and things we're planning on saving for, so this idea appealed to the both of us!  Next came the decision of what month to pick for our month.  We knew December was out, for obvious reasons and we felt we needed more time to prepare than January, so February it was... also, who else would admit we're smart for doing this during the shortest month of the year? ; )  Yes, we thought of that as well. We did decide our own guidelines that fit our family. 1. Pay our bills....
