Nellie's Surgery- part 2/ The happiest day of my life!

Wednesday morning, June 4th, Dr Hodshon called just as I got to work to tell me that they were taking Nellie back for her CT scan.  (Around 8:00 a.m.)

Just 30 short minutes later, Dr. H called and said that her thoughts were confirmed and Nellie had an extremely herniated disc in her C-2 C-3 neck region.  They were shaving her as we spoke and she was prepping for surgery.  She said not to freak out if it was a while before I heard from her, and I think I told her thank you and to take good care of my girl.   Thanks to the kids, they helped to keep my mind off of everything, but I know I checked my phone every 10 minutes.  I kept thinking, as long as she doesn't call immediately, it's a good thing.  Finally at around 11:30, she called to say that the surgery had gone wonderfully and that Nellie was awake.  My heart was about the explode with excitement and gratitude.  She estimated that Nellie would need to stay another couple nights, and I told her that would be fine with us.  We definitely didn't want to rush bringing her home, especially knowing it was a two hour ride home.

The Dr. herself called each morning and night to update us on Nellie, which made me so happy.  I think it was Wednesday afternoon they said she was cracking them up with her funny sleeping positions.  Thurdsay, Dr. H said that as soon as she got Nellie out to check on her, Nellie tr.ied to climb up on her lap.  I was so glad to hear Nellie liked her, but I was unbelievably sad that I couldn't be there to hold her.  They also said she was eating like a little hog!  We told them that was our girl!!

Dr. H also said Nellie would be ready to picked up on Friday, June 6, which worked out perfectly for us!  Thank goodness we were both able to get out of work by 3:30, so we got on the road to Louisville as fast as we could.  We did great until we were going right through downtown, and there was a wreck.  I was so anxious to get there before Dr. H left so we could personally tell her thank you for helping our girl.  We got there around 6:30 our time (7:30 theirs) and the tech went through all the discharge information and then we got to see Dr. H.  I gave her a big ol' hug and I could tell she was so happy for us.  We loved her!  A few short minutes later, and they brought Nellie out to us in the waiting room.  She was scampering for us, and I just collapsed on the ground with her.  I cried tears of gratefulness and just held her.  I told one of my friends that we made quite the scene, but hopefully it was a cute scene! ; )

We laughed when we got outside because they said her ability to #2 might be delayed, but as soon as we got in the grass she dropped some of the stinkiest stuff ever. Zach was nearly rolling on the ground, and he graciously brought the little baggy for my to clean it up.  There were even an older couple watching and laughing.  I didn't care though, I had my baby girl back.

Now, to the good part.  The pictures of our sweet girl on the ride home.  I really don't know who was happier, me or her!
One happy (maybe still drugged) pup!

Pure heaven...

"Can you believe this hack-job fur cut, Mama?"

"You takin me home this time, promise, Mama?"

Oh so worn out!

I AM HOME!  And already hating my turkey neck.  Mama and Daddy think it's cute, though!

Look at all the little flab!

A shot of her incision.

Weirdest shave job ever, but it served its purpose!

I know ya'll can tell, but we are so thankful to the staff at Blue Pearl, especially Dr. Hodshon for their loving care and treatment of Nellie.  We also thank God for his provision through this incredible difficult time and pray for continual healing for our sweet girl.  We don't take her for granted, and are so ready for her to heal and move past this!  Thank you all for your prayers!  They have definitely been felt!

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

Turns out...

Third grade is not bad at all! The kids are still pretty sweet and are so excited for me to be there and I am excited too! I think it will be fun to see all that they can do and have fun with them. Yesterday I received 5 notes on my desk about how excited that I was there and about how much fun we were going to have. I think they are right! Hopefully I get the hang of them quickly, because I start teaching Science (Mon and Wed), Social Studies(Tues and Thur), and PE (Fri) next week!

What I'm Thankful For...

Hey y'all. It's just Nathana in this post. I figured since I've been alive 20 years, that equals 20 Thanksgivings, so I'm gonna have the 20 things I'm most Thankful for. Here goes nothing! : ) 1. The first thing of course I am thankful for is my salvation through Jesus Christ! Without him I have no hope to be anything! 2. My mom and dad, and the home they raised me in. I could not imagine any parents better than mine, and I'm proud to be their daughter. I'm also thankful they didn't give me away to a farm when I was difficult! 3. My brother and sister. No one else knows all of the trouble we've been in and fun we've had over the years and even though we don't always see eye to eye, I wouldn't trade them for any other siblings. 4. Zachary Scheller. God has blessed me with an even better future husband than I could have ever asked for. My love and respect for him grows each day, and I will be so thankful this June when I can ca...
