Kitchen Remodel

I know we all love those crazy episodes of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition where Ty Pennington runs around with a megaphone and is hyper encouraging his crew.   They make building/remodeling a house look like such fun!  Right?  Well, let's just say that was not the case at our house during remodeling the kitchen! : ) Poor Zach had to spend all day Monday (July 23rd) working on the plumbing.  Our house has cast irons pipes.  I am convinced they must be an invention of the devil, because they are awful, just like him!  That pushed us back a whole day and sent us on our first of many trips to Lowe's, Menards, and Rural King! Zach continued to work on plumbing Tuesday while I was working on other house things as Lizabeth helped me!  Zach's dad came over that night bringing cabinets from their house they remodeled in hopes that we could use them.  A long story shortened, only one was going to really work, so we sucked it up and went to L...

Long time, no blog

Some would think with me working summer camp, I would have plenty if time to blog and lounge around. Strangely though, I feel like I have little time where we are not busy. To catch up, I'm going to start with our second vacation where we remodeled our kitchen and went to Nashville. It was a pretty stressful first part of the week, but to get away to Nashville was so incredibly relaxing. It made me realize that Zach and I have not gone away or over a night by ourselves since out honeymoon! Which you all know was over 2 years ago! Way too long! More on that to come. This post is to just organize my thoughts on what I need to write and catch up on. I also know I have a total of maybe 5 readers, but I still hope that people are reading it! I'd also like to send congratulations to my friend and fellow blogger Kasee on her engagement! We met in BCM in college and she is so sweet and deserves the best! Hopefully she reads this sometime! And Kasee, if you are, I am somewhat of a w...

Vacation, abbreviated

This year we went to Panama City Beach, Florida with my mom's side of the family.  We were supposed to get there Saturday, but since Zach had to work Sunday, we got there around 3:45 Monday morning.  It was a loooong overnight drive there and we were so glad to sleep when we got there!  I was finally on vacation and so happy to know that I had until Saturday to enjoy vacation with my family. Then came Tuesday morning.  I got a call from the secretary at my school corporation building saying that they wanted to interview me for a third grade teaching position at my school.  The really sad news, it was Friday.  In my mind it was a no-brainer.  It wasn't even a question if we were going back early.  It's what I needed to do.  My heart on the other hand was broken.  I had been waiting all year for this and we would only be getting 3 days of vacation.  I will go ahead and tell you know since I found out the other day that I didn't get th...

Our anniversary present!

On our actual anniversary, Zach gave me a card and the movie "Life As We Know It." We both agreed that our present to each other this year would be a... Dishwasher! Can I get a "Hallelujah?" We had researched online a fair bit and finally selected one from Lowe's. I told Zach if we were going to go through the trouble of getting one, I didn't want a poor quality one or one I would be disappointed with!
Happy 2nd wedding anniversary to us!  We both had to work on our anniversary and Zach had to work until late, so we couldn't go out.  I surprised Zach by making his favorites, spinach manicotti and white chocolate strawberry pie!  I barely got it done between myself and him getting off work, but to see his happy face when he got home and saw all the work I'd done was priceless. These past two years have been the best of my life.  I love you, honey so much and I hope for many, many more years!  I love you more!

Father's Day 2012

I saw my Daddy on Saturday before Father's day and then we went to church with Zach's parents on Sunday. We went out to eat with them to Cheddar's and then home to make no bake cookies and a cherry delight for the get together that night. We snuck in a brief cat nap and loaded Nellie up to celebrate with Zach's Mom's side of the family. Zach and I went fishing before anyone else got there. The fish he is holding in the picture was the catch of the day. Once we had eaten, Aubrie laid on Zach while he was lounging. I thought it was such a sweet picture! Then she wanted to go back down with us to fish, which ended in her and I picking blackberries. She was sooooo super excited and could barely wait to wash them off before digging in. They were pretty tart, but I think you can see she was so proud and excited, it didn't matter what they tasted like! Haha. My week at summer camp went by quickly as we did two outside messy days, went swimming one day, went to the mo...
