5 months!

Our little Nellie girl is 5 months old today! The most recent pictures I have of her were from Christmas, so I will have to upload some new ones soon.

At 5 months Nellie has
  • Lost all of her baby teeth. (We think.) Her new chompers are huge! They are so funny to look at because her first set of teeth were sooo tiny!
  • She can easily jump places like the chair, couch, and now our bed. We will let her snuggle with us at night while we watch movies, but she still sleeps in her kennel at night. We don't want her to break this good habit!
  • She weighs 16 lbs. Still our little tub-a-lub! She still has lots of loose skin, so I'm assuming that she's gonna get at least a little bigger.
  • She lays down all the time we tell her to now! She is so very good at it and is highly motivated by treats. We are working on "Stay" next. It's not as easy as it sounds!
  • For her first Christmas she was quite spoiled! Suzanne made her a personalized food bowl, Mama got her a pink coat, we got her Pork Chomps and her Christmas dress, and Mama Joyce got her a squeaky toy that she loves, loves, loves! It is so funny to hear her squeak on it. Sometimes it takes her a little bit to locate the squeaker inside the toy and she will just keep biting it until she finds it! She is quite a determined little girl.
  • She has also almost outgrown her first collar! Too bad she hates collars in general, she looks so cute in them!
  • Zach has been taking Nellie rabbit hunting, but is not having much luck with her actually chasing/trailing the rabbits. Puppies are best trained by learning from older, experienced dogs, (and we have no other beagles to use) so Zach has been trying to research other ways to train her online. I hope he finds something, because I don't want him to get frustrated with her. I can definitely say she loves running around in the fields with him, even if she doesn't know what a rabbit is! : )
I think that is all the new stuff for Nellie! I can't believe we've had her for almost three months already. It seems like she has always been here. At first I know I said I didn't know what on earth would happen with a dog in the house, but we've figured it out, and I wouldn't change one thing of what we've done. It seems so natural to have her in the house with us and I just love it!
This was the only way we could get her to wear her Christmas hat without trying to chew it up!

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

Turns out...

Third grade is not bad at all! The kids are still pretty sweet and are so excited for me to be there and I am excited too! I think it will be fun to see all that they can do and have fun with them. Yesterday I received 5 notes on my desk about how excited that I was there and about how much fun we were going to have. I think they are right! Hopefully I get the hang of them quickly, because I start teaching Science (Mon and Wed), Social Studies(Tues and Thur), and PE (Fri) next week!

What I'm Thankful For...

Hey y'all. It's just Nathana in this post. I figured since I've been alive 20 years, that equals 20 Thanksgivings, so I'm gonna have the 20 things I'm most Thankful for. Here goes nothing! : ) 1. The first thing of course I am thankful for is my salvation through Jesus Christ! Without him I have no hope to be anything! 2. My mom and dad, and the home they raised me in. I could not imagine any parents better than mine, and I'm proud to be their daughter. I'm also thankful they didn't give me away to a farm when I was difficult! 3. My brother and sister. No one else knows all of the trouble we've been in and fun we've had over the years and even though we don't always see eye to eye, I wouldn't trade them for any other siblings. 4. Zachary Scheller. God has blessed me with an even better future husband than I could have ever asked for. My love and respect for him grows each day, and I will be so thankful this June when I can ca...
