Christmas line-up

So, being the newlyweds that we are, we knew this year with all of the holidays there would be some give and take when it came to these events. Just in case any of you were desperately wanting to know how or if we we're going to be able to work it out...

Tonight, the 23rd (aka Christmas Eve's Eve) we are eating pizza with Zach's mom's cousins who are up from Mississippi.

Tomorrow, the 24th (Christmas Eve) we are going to my dad's parents in the morning to do Christmas with them. Then that evening we are going to Zach's dad's side to open "dirty santa" presents. (I.E.- Everyone steals presents from each other and I hate it!) Well, let's say I hate it less than I originally did 3 years ago! I have learned that the name of the game is you buy yourself what you want in hopes of getting it! Selfish, yes, I know, but it's either that or you depend on what others bring, which is usually dumb gag gifts! Another example of that is Zach is taking the movie Zombieland. Needless to say, I doubt anyone will fight him over that! : )

We will also stop by my mom's mom (Mama Joyce's) house to pick up our "Christmas Eve" pajamas. Which you can probably guess, we wear to bed on Christmas Eve!

Then on Christmas morning, to start off the festivities Zach and I will get up at around 7:00 a.m. (or before, if he gets his way : ) ) We are going to eat homemade cinnamon rolls on our new china we got for our wedding. Then we're going to open up our presents and stockings from each other. Then we are going to dress up little Nellie girl in her Christmas dress and head to my Mama and Daddy's. There we will open up presents from them, Ross and Sarah, and Suzanne. Then around noon we will head to Mama Joyce's to have Christmas Day lunch and relax until about suppertime. Then all 18 of us will open presents from Mama Joyce and the Aunts and Uncles. The day will be long, but I will love every minute of it!

On the day after Christmas we are going to church for me to play handbells, but we have to leave right after that to get to Zach's mom's side to do Christmas presents. They also do the "dirty Santa." Sigh. Oh well. Usually it turns out a little better than the other one though. I have to say that Zach and I have learned the importance of communication with each other in this game. Sometimes he will tell me to steal something for him or he will steal something for me, and everyone ends up happy! haha.

Then we are going back to Zach's parents' house and doing our Christmas with them! Whew, after typing all of this I realize how much we are going to be doing in the next few days! I better get a nap in today to rest up!! : )

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

Turns out...

Third grade is not bad at all! The kids are still pretty sweet and are so excited for me to be there and I am excited too! I think it will be fun to see all that they can do and have fun with them. Yesterday I received 5 notes on my desk about how excited that I was there and about how much fun we were going to have. I think they are right! Hopefully I get the hang of them quickly, because I start teaching Science (Mon and Wed), Social Studies(Tues and Thur), and PE (Fri) next week!

What I'm Thankful For...

Hey y'all. It's just Nathana in this post. I figured since I've been alive 20 years, that equals 20 Thanksgivings, so I'm gonna have the 20 things I'm most Thankful for. Here goes nothing! : ) 1. The first thing of course I am thankful for is my salvation through Jesus Christ! Without him I have no hope to be anything! 2. My mom and dad, and the home they raised me in. I could not imagine any parents better than mine, and I'm proud to be their daughter. I'm also thankful they didn't give me away to a farm when I was difficult! 3. My brother and sister. No one else knows all of the trouble we've been in and fun we've had over the years and even though we don't always see eye to eye, I wouldn't trade them for any other siblings. 4. Zachary Scheller. God has blessed me with an even better future husband than I could have ever asked for. My love and respect for him grows each day, and I will be so thankful this June when I can ca...
