Woo hoo, Nellie's Two!

It is hard to believe it, but our girl is already two years old! She is such a joy and we can't imagine life without her!
At 2 years old Nellie:
-Weighs 26.8 lbs (Our vet told us she is "overweight" so she's been dieting!  She is so pitiful about food though it breaks your heart!)
-Loves to cuddle with us.  It is so funny because if it is bed time, she will lay in bed so still and not move.  We think she is thinking, "Okay, if I don't move, they'll forget I'm here and will let me sleep with them!"  It works about 10% of the time!  She still sleeps in her kennel otherwise.  She also stays in her kennel during the day.  I know she wouldn't potty in the house if she were free in it during the day, but there is seriously no telling what all she would get herself into.  She'd probably be like Marley from Marley and Me
-Loves ice.  You can ask her if she wants ice and she runs to the refrigerator and looks up toward the freezer door!  She is so smart!
-Loves her daddy.  When Zach pulls in the driveway, we'll hear him and I'll say, "Where's Daddy?" and she'll run to the door looking for him.  One day I told her he was home and he wasn't yet.  She ran around for 5 minutes looking for him.
-One experience Nellie had this year was swimming.  She was on the deck at Mama Joyce's and jumped in the pool.  She took off swimming though, although I think she scared herself.  We let her do it for a couple minutes and then she was done.  Her doggy paddle was soooo stinkin' cute!  I wish I could have taped it, but of course, I hadn't planned on her swimming anyway.
-Zach is still trying to train Nellie in rabbit hunting.  He just hasn't really had the time.  She definitely has shown interest in rabbits though as she howls incredibly high pitched whenever she seems them at our house.  Zach said it is her "trail bark."  You can definitely tell a difference between it and her regular howl.  Thank goodness our neighbor thinks it's such a sweet sound. (And I'm not kidding, those were his exact words.)  I was kind of worried she would bug people!

She was leaning away because I was telling her "stay" so she wouldn't eat the cookie!  She was so desperate to get it!

Happy Barkday cook from "Give A Dog A Bone."
Sweet, sweet girl with her presents!  I took her to Rural King to pick them out.  She did grab the pink one, but was intent on trying to eating the nasty popcorn off the floor. Hehe!
 "This cookie is so yummy!"
 "Num, num, num!"
Hehe, this isn't a great picture, but I just love her face.  She acted like I was murdering her or something!  No idea where she gets the flair for dramatics from...
 Still trying for a picture!

Mama with her birthday girl.  Excuse the background mess, this was towards the end of the kitchen remodel!
 The morning of her birthday!
 Getting a good lick!

That sums up Nellie girl's birthday.  I actually babysat that evening, but she was home with Zach, and I have it on good word that they enjoyed some snuggling and napping time!
Some people might scoff at me loving a dog so much, but she is a very important member of our family!  We love you, Nellie Girl Scheller and pray you have many more birthdays to come!

Love,
Mama and Daddy

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

Turns out...

Third grade is not bad at all! The kids are still pretty sweet and are so excited for me to be there and I am excited too! I think it will be fun to see all that they can do and have fun with them. Yesterday I received 5 notes on my desk about how excited that I was there and about how much fun we were going to have. I think they are right! Hopefully I get the hang of them quickly, because I start teaching Science (Mon and Wed), Social Studies(Tues and Thur), and PE (Fri) next week!

What I'm Thankful For...

Hey y'all. It's just Nathana in this post. I figured since I've been alive 20 years, that equals 20 Thanksgivings, so I'm gonna have the 20 things I'm most Thankful for. Here goes nothing! : ) 1. The first thing of course I am thankful for is my salvation through Jesus Christ! Without him I have no hope to be anything! 2. My mom and dad, and the home they raised me in. I could not imagine any parents better than mine, and I'm proud to be their daughter. I'm also thankful they didn't give me away to a farm when I was difficult! 3. My brother and sister. No one else knows all of the trouble we've been in and fun we've had over the years and even though we don't always see eye to eye, I wouldn't trade them for any other siblings. 4. Zachary Scheller. God has blessed me with an even better future husband than I could have ever asked for. My love and respect for him grows each day, and I will be so thankful this June when I can ca...
