NSM: Resisting Temptation

So, we're 11 days into NSM, and it's going well.  About 98% of the difficulty of this month for me is temptation.  My mentality is that if I just don't go shopping, that the desire won't find me.  Enter: E-mails and weekly ads.  My biggest enemy.  The e-mails are the absolute worst.  I have check my e-mail and every day I'm greet by at least 20 e-mails from my favorite retailers enticing me with sales, coupons, and free shipping.  As much as it pains me, I just delete them without even looking at them.  It's too easy to go from "I'll just take a look..."to "I'd like that in 3 colors, please!"
The other day, Zach and I were out and about and I wanted to run into Dillard's "just to look".  Zach was oh-so-patient even though he already asked twice if I remembered that I myself had said I wouldn't spend anything.  We made a quick round about the store, and we were in the clear.  I know it makes no sense, but seeing that I'm not actually missing out on any unbelievable deals and knowing that I'd feel guilty on spending on something, especially if it wasn't totally worth it, made me feel a lot better.  I fully foresee the next 17 days going pretty smoothly.  Especially since I won't leave the house while the Olympics are on.  I'm nuts and am pretty sure I am driving my real family AND school family crazy talking about the Olympics.  Win/win! : )

On the meal planning note, here's this week's line-up

Sunday- Two Timin' Pasta bake (lunches for Mon/Tues)
Monday- French Toast
Tuesday- Meatloaf, corn, and cottage cheese (Lunches for Wed/ Thur)
Wednesday- Sally's Noodle Casserole (Lunches for Fri/Sat
Thursday- Strengthening Families night for me, Zach will eat leftover's
Friday-  Valentine's Day Supper!  We haven't decided if we are going to try to use our Olive Garden gift cards we've been saving, or if we are going to make personal pizzas.  It all depends on how early Zach gets out of class!
Saturday- Tacos

I can't leave this post without coming clean, we did cheat on Sunday at lunch.  I had just gotten done babysitting overnight and my dearest husband has been up until 4:00 A.M. watching The Walking Dead. (Gross!)  So anyway, I asked if he wanted me to cook lunch, to which he adorably grinned and said he'd love to have Qdoba.  So for the price of $14, we sold ourselves out a little, but it ended there!  Ah, I feel better already getting that off my conscience!

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

Turns out...

Third grade is not bad at all! The kids are still pretty sweet and are so excited for me to be there and I am excited too! I think it will be fun to see all that they can do and have fun with them. Yesterday I received 5 notes on my desk about how excited that I was there and about how much fun we were going to have. I think they are right! Hopefully I get the hang of them quickly, because I start teaching Science (Mon and Wed), Social Studies(Tues and Thur), and PE (Fri) next week!

What I'm Thankful For...

Hey y'all. It's just Nathana in this post. I figured since I've been alive 20 years, that equals 20 Thanksgivings, so I'm gonna have the 20 things I'm most Thankful for. Here goes nothing! : ) 1. The first thing of course I am thankful for is my salvation through Jesus Christ! Without him I have no hope to be anything! 2. My mom and dad, and the home they raised me in. I could not imagine any parents better than mine, and I'm proud to be their daughter. I'm also thankful they didn't give me away to a farm when I was difficult! 3. My brother and sister. No one else knows all of the trouble we've been in and fun we've had over the years and even though we don't always see eye to eye, I wouldn't trade them for any other siblings. 4. Zachary Scheller. God has blessed me with an even better future husband than I could have ever asked for. My love and respect for him grows each day, and I will be so thankful this June when I can ca...
