Tonight, Zach and I went to Rural King to buy Nellie's first vaccine. To spare everyone the details, one of her bodily functions was NOT normal and had us very worried. Zach's dad said the symptoms sounded like Parvo. We had planned on taking her to the vet soon anyway, but since they had the vaccine where we could buy it and then administer it we went ahead and got it so it could start working right away!
On to the sad tale... We got home and Nellie had peed on the floor. Zach started to mix up the vaccine right away. So first of all, she probably thinks she got the shot because she was in trouble. Then I had to wipe her with rubbing alcohol to sterilize the intended injection site. We sat down on the couch and I pinned her down while Zach gave her the shot. Everyone in our neighborhood probably heard when the needle went in! Then I still had to hold her while Zach injected the serum. It was awful and she was yelping and crying and I was crying, which let me to this thought...... What on EARTH am I going to do when we have real children and they get shots? (Imagine my terrified, tear-stained face!)
