8 months!

Today is our Nellie Girl's 8 month birthday. As I type she is lounging around, going from chair to chair, and laying on Zach. She seems to know that she is the little queen bee around here, especially since her surgery. She even thinks she is entitled to laying on our laps at all hours of the day! Her 8 month stats:

20 lbs on the dot when I took her to the vet last week.

So incredibly long from head to tail!

She has figured out how to jump into the chairs in the kitchen. Her first victorious consumption was the crust of an apple pie! She was very impressed with herself! Especially more so that her Mama.

We are still working on the command "Roll over." We haven't been working on it due to her sore belly after surgery, so I'm going to start back with her on it soon. For those keeping track (haha, okay it's just me) she now knows sit, stay, lay down, get it, drop it, shake, and (almost) roll over. I think she is building a pretty good repetoire!

Nellie is incredibly mischevious these days. She has also learn the skill of stealth. I think she tiptoes sometimes, because she will be across the house and suddenly be standing right under me. Half the time, she scares the life out of me too! (Because let's face it, I'm kind of a chicken.) She is also good at sneaking items to chew on. Unfortunately she is not very good at hiding while chewing on said items, because we find her within seconds! This is a good thing though as we would be short a few pairs of shoes, gloves, socks, and dryer sheets if she was!

We are so thankful everything went well with her surgery and she is now back to her energetic, fast, crazy, sweet self! We love you, our precious Nellie girl!

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

What I'm Thankful For...

Hey y'all. It's just Nathana in this post. I figured since I've been alive 20 years, that equals 20 Thanksgivings, so I'm gonna have the 20 things I'm most Thankful for. Here goes nothing! : ) 1. The first thing of course I am thankful for is my salvation through Jesus Christ! Without him I have no hope to be anything! 2. My mom and dad, and the home they raised me in. I could not imagine any parents better than mine, and I'm proud to be their daughter. I'm also thankful they didn't give me away to a farm when I was difficult! 3. My brother and sister. No one else knows all of the trouble we've been in and fun we've had over the years and even though we don't always see eye to eye, I wouldn't trade them for any other siblings. 4. Zachary Scheller. God has blessed me with an even better future husband than I could have ever asked for. My love and respect for him grows each day, and I will be so thankful this June when I can ca...

No-spend February

I have always been a "saver" of money, practically since I started receiving it for birthdays and especially since earning it.  I nearly cried when I paid $211 dollars cash for my iPod nano when I was 16. True fact!  So a long time ago I heard of a "Dave Ramsey" type idea of a no-spend month where in your household you pay your bills and buy groceries, and no extras for one month.  Then see how much you save.  Before the new year Zach and I were thinking about plans for this next year and things we're planning on saving for, so this idea appealed to the both of us!  Next came the decision of what month to pick for our month.  We knew December was out, for obvious reasons and we felt we needed more time to prepare than January, so February it was... also, who else would admit we're smart for doing this during the shortest month of the year? ; )  Yes, we thought of that as well. We did decide our own guidelines that fit our family. 1. Pay our bills....
