No, Autocorrect, I MEANT Blogtember Day 6

Day 6: Describe a distinct moment when your life took a turn.
This prompt almost stumps me... When I think I my life "taking a turn," I think of something drastic and life altering. I probably have had something like that on recent years, but I just really can't pinpoint a big "turn" in my life.  I would have to say that one of the biggest events of my life was moving. I went from   quiet, country life to loud, close- together neighbor life... A bit of a culture shock. I know that sounds ridiculous to some of you, but it truly was.  I remember the first night after coming home from our honeymoon. We were laying in bed and at every little noise I would jump and say,"What was that?" I seriously didn't sleep well for the first couple months on our marriage. I was such a chicken.  I guess I can say this actually was a turn in my life, because the move made me into a truly independent adult. Over the pat 3 years, there were times that I had to spend the night by myself, and I survived! I have learned how to be alone and be okay with it, which is a huge adjustment after growing up in a family of five and never being truly on my own. Of course I'm not "on my own," as I have Zach, but ya'll know what I mean!

Now that I've earned my badge of courage for living in the city, can I get me country dream home, please? : )

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

What I'm Thankful For...

Hey y'all. It's just Nathana in this post. I figured since I've been alive 20 years, that equals 20 Thanksgivings, so I'm gonna have the 20 things I'm most Thankful for. Here goes nothing! : ) 1. The first thing of course I am thankful for is my salvation through Jesus Christ! Without him I have no hope to be anything! 2. My mom and dad, and the home they raised me in. I could not imagine any parents better than mine, and I'm proud to be their daughter. I'm also thankful they didn't give me away to a farm when I was difficult! 3. My brother and sister. No one else knows all of the trouble we've been in and fun we've had over the years and even though we don't always see eye to eye, I wouldn't trade them for any other siblings. 4. Zachary Scheller. God has blessed me with an even better future husband than I could have ever asked for. My love and respect for him grows each day, and I will be so thankful this June when I can ca...

No-spend February

I have always been a "saver" of money, practically since I started receiving it for birthdays and especially since earning it.  I nearly cried when I paid $211 dollars cash for my iPod nano when I was 16. True fact!  So a long time ago I heard of a "Dave Ramsey" type idea of a no-spend month where in your household you pay your bills and buy groceries, and no extras for one month.  Then see how much you save.  Before the new year Zach and I were thinking about plans for this next year and things we're planning on saving for, so this idea appealed to the both of us!  Next came the decision of what month to pick for our month.  We knew December was out, for obvious reasons and we felt we needed more time to prepare than January, so February it was... also, who else would admit we're smart for doing this during the shortest month of the year? ; )  Yes, we thought of that as well. We did decide our own guidelines that fit our family. 1. Pay our bills....
