Sausage pinwheels

It's been a few weeks since I've posted a new recipe, and ya'll, this is a divine one!

My Great-aunt Norma Jean has always made the same thing for bridal showers and baby showers at church.  Hence the reason I rarely miss a shower! (I kid, I kid.... But really!)  She had actually written this recipe down for me at my bridal shower, (you know, way back in 2010!) but naturally, I lost it! I digress... I asked her for it this Sunday at church and got around to making them tonight. I can not even explain how awesome these are, but I'll try. I think the word would be savory and sweet. They are perfect for a shower or brunch and I fully intend on cooking them for breakfast this weekend. The very best thing is that it makes a large batch so you can divide it up in as many rolls as you want, freeze them, and then just cut them up and pop them in the oven!

Sausage pinwheels
2 cups Bisquick
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water plus about 2 tablespoons
1 lb. breakfast sausage (I used deer)

Mix together the Bisquick, sugar and water.  Flour a pastry mat and roll out the dough into a rectangle. It should be about 1/8 inch thick. Then tear up uncooked sausage and spread across dough.  Roll up the sausage and dough. Wrap up in parchment paper, place on a cookie sheet, and freeze. I also cut mine into 2 rolls before I froze it. When ready to cook them, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut pinwheels about 1/4 inch thick. Place frozen slices on cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes! Eat and enjoy way more than you should!
Yields: (*dislclaimer: I haven't sliced both rolls up yet, but I think it'll make around 30!)

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

Turns out...

Third grade is not bad at all! The kids are still pretty sweet and are so excited for me to be there and I am excited too! I think it will be fun to see all that they can do and have fun with them. Yesterday I received 5 notes on my desk about how excited that I was there and about how much fun we were going to have. I think they are right! Hopefully I get the hang of them quickly, because I start teaching Science (Mon and Wed), Social Studies(Tues and Thur), and PE (Fri) next week!

What I'm Thankful For...

Hey y'all. It's just Nathana in this post. I figured since I've been alive 20 years, that equals 20 Thanksgivings, so I'm gonna have the 20 things I'm most Thankful for. Here goes nothing! : ) 1. The first thing of course I am thankful for is my salvation through Jesus Christ! Without him I have no hope to be anything! 2. My mom and dad, and the home they raised me in. I could not imagine any parents better than mine, and I'm proud to be their daughter. I'm also thankful they didn't give me away to a farm when I was difficult! 3. My brother and sister. No one else knows all of the trouble we've been in and fun we've had over the years and even though we don't always see eye to eye, I wouldn't trade them for any other siblings. 4. Zachary Scheller. God has blessed me with an even better future husband than I could have ever asked for. My love and respect for him grows each day, and I will be so thankful this June when I can ca...
