10 Day You Challenge

Six of the most glorious places in the world to me

6. Home Sweet Home. Nothing can beat it, especially when you've lived there your entire life. I love my parents' house and you can tell I still refer to it as home.

5. Our house. Yes, it is hard to call it home, but I am still working on it. I do love to come home and think about all we have done our little house and all of the memories we have already made here. It's where we settled in after our honeymoon, it's where we brought in our precious Nellie into our family, and it's where we celebrated our first Christmas as a married couple. So in a lot of ways it is becoming "home-ish." : )

4.Mama Joyce's house. It's where my brother, sister, and I spent many summer days and days after school. Less than half a mile from my parents' house it was our second home. We learned that we weren't supposed to baptize kittens or chase the chickens, but we could certainly pick up gum balls and sticks so the yard could be mowed. If only I could recount all the memories....

3. Florida. Our constant vacation spot. Sun, sand, water, and food. Who could ask for more?

2. Bellfield Baptist Church. Another place I have grown up in physically and spiritually. Also, half of the church is my family, so you are always well informed! ; )

1. Germany. I have been, and so want to get to go with Zach, hopefully in the next couple of years before we have kids. It was such an amazing experience and I loved to getting to be in the country my great grandparents hailed from.

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

What I'm Thankful For...

Hey y'all. It's just Nathana in this post. I figured since I've been alive 20 years, that equals 20 Thanksgivings, so I'm gonna have the 20 things I'm most Thankful for. Here goes nothing! : ) 1. The first thing of course I am thankful for is my salvation through Jesus Christ! Without him I have no hope to be anything! 2. My mom and dad, and the home they raised me in. I could not imagine any parents better than mine, and I'm proud to be their daughter. I'm also thankful they didn't give me away to a farm when I was difficult! 3. My brother and sister. No one else knows all of the trouble we've been in and fun we've had over the years and even though we don't always see eye to eye, I wouldn't trade them for any other siblings. 4. Zachary Scheller. God has blessed me with an even better future husband than I could have ever asked for. My love and respect for him grows each day, and I will be so thankful this June when I can ca...

No-spend February

I have always been a "saver" of money, practically since I started receiving it for birthdays and especially since earning it.  I nearly cried when I paid $211 dollars cash for my iPod nano when I was 16. True fact!  So a long time ago I heard of a "Dave Ramsey" type idea of a no-spend month where in your household you pay your bills and buy groceries, and no extras for one month.  Then see how much you save.  Before the new year Zach and I were thinking about plans for this next year and things we're planning on saving for, so this idea appealed to the both of us!  Next came the decision of what month to pick for our month.  We knew December was out, for obvious reasons and we felt we needed more time to prepare than January, so February it was... also, who else would admit we're smart for doing this during the shortest month of the year? ; )  Yes, we thought of that as well. We did decide our own guidelines that fit our family. 1. Pay our bills....
