Weekend Wrap-Up

Here are some leftovers from Valentine's Day! Nellie with her #1 Valentine- Daddy! I feel like this picture embodies everything I feel for my girl.  Love that Zach got this! Nellie's other #1 Valentine- Mama! Zach's treat!  This weekend we enjoyed the great weather and on Friday we celebrated Mama Joyce's 84th Birthday! Opening her presents!  Friday was also 5 years since we got engaged.  It's kind of hard to believe it's been that long! Today I taught Sunday School and made breakfast for our class.  I made a Sausage Breakfast casserole and cinnamon streusel cake.  They were both a big hit and everybody really enjoyed them.  We went to Hunan's with my family after church, but I just had egg drop soup, due to a nasty ulcer I have on the side of my tongue right now.  It is seriously so big and it hurts so badly I can barely eat!  Not fun! Zach did find it entertaining because with my tongue so swollen, I have a been lisping

NSM Week 3

It's week three of NSM, and we're still going strong.  We've cheated a bit more, but it's all within reason. Our cheats: Valetine's Dessert on Friday $5.29 Valentine's Supper on Saturday $23.47 Both were related to V-day, so I consider those an exception to the rule! Candy from B-ball game I worked on Tuesday- $2.40.  Come on, ya'll, nobody can resist Laffy Taffy with the little purple sprinkles on them! Our Menu this week: Sunday- Leftovers (Zach will have food from lunch from Mama Joyce's and I'll have Sally's!) Monday- Supreme Nacho Cheese Pasta Tuesday- Sweet and Sour Chicken with rice and a side-salad with hard-boiled egg, crackers, and Mullen French dressing! Yum! Wednesday- Weeeeeell, I may have gotten a tempting text from Qdoba saying that if you come in today, you can try their new flavors of queso on your burrito for free.  This is what I get for not fully planning my meals before the week started! Temptation.   For Shame, f

Valentine's Day and the Quickest Weekend Ever

Valentine's morning I treated myself to a heart-shaped chicken biscuit from Chick-fil-a.  They were BOGO free AND I got a survey for a free chicken sandwich.  That in and of itself made my day! : )                                                       Friday evening Zach and I tried to go out for Valentine's Day.  We thought we were early enough to beat the rush, but it turned out we weren't.   We ended up going back home with a quick stop through Donut Bank to get dessert and then we had a DiGiorno pizza and watched the Olympics.  Can you feel the romance? Haha.                                                                                                     Yummy Whoopie Pie!                                                                                          My Valentine! Saturday morning began gloriously at 9:20 a.m. It seems like it's been forever since I slept that late, but it was wonderful!  I met my friend, Jennifer, and he

Weekend Recap

I already posted earlier about babysitting this past weekend, and I guess that about summed it up.  On Friday, we ate with Zach's parents and played rummy.  It was so funny because on the way over there I told him I was craving his mom's fettucine alfredo, and that is what she made!  So delicious!  On Saturday we were super lazy and slept until around 8:00.  I made pancakes, which turned out better than they usually do.  (Of all the the thing I cook well, I always seem to screw up pancakes.  How does someone even mess those up?)  We then went to Lowe's where we bought primer for the affectionately coined "blue room" aka our second biggest bedroom.  It has wood paneling, but seeing as there is plaster underneath, it's going to look a lot better to just paint over the paneling.  I still haven't decided on a paint color, but have decided that I am just going to prime it for now and then pick a color later on this year.  I had to be at the kids' house

Tuesday Thoughts

The week is going well, but I have some beef to pound: 1.  If another website posts Olympic results without warning of a spoiler, I am going to scream and throw a hissy fit.  I logged out of my hotmail account earlier and was automatically redirected to msn where result for today's events were posted.  No warning, no "look away now if you don't want it ruined for you," nothing of the sort.  This makes me so unbelievably mad.  Ask anyone at school today, I. was. ticked.  Uggggggh.  I guess I'll just need to avoid the internet the next two weeks, as I am not a "I'll feel better if I know how it ends ahead of time" person like my dear Mama! ; ) 2.  Why, oh why, couldn't we have had all those delays, early releases, and snow days this week instead of last so that I can watch as much as possible of the Olympics! (Warning: If you are already tired of seeing the word Olympics, you may want to ignore me for the rest of the month!  Although, if you don

NSM: Resisting Temptation

So, we're 11 days into NSM, and it's going well.  About 98% of the difficulty of this month for me is temptation.  My mentality is that if I just don't go shopping, that the desire won't find me.  Enter: E-mails and weekly ads.  My biggest enemy.  The e-mails are the absolute worst.  I have check my e-mail and every day I'm greet by at least 20 e-mails from my favorite retailers enticing me with sales, coupons, and free shipping.  As much as it pains me, I just delete them without even looking at them.  It's too easy to go from "I'll just take a look..."to "I'd like that in 3 colors, please!" The other day, Zach and I were out and about and I wanted to run into Dillard's "just to look".  Zach was oh-so-patient even though he already asked twice if I remembered that I myself had said I wouldn't spend anything.  We made a quick round about the store, and we were in the clear.  I know it makes no sense, but seeing that

If/When Wednesday

IF we could ever have a full week of school, maybe we wouldn't have to go to school until June. Listen up, Winter, I've got a summer job where I get PAID to go to the pool and movies, so I'd like that to start ASAP!  WHEN we go on a weekend get-away I will be in 7th Heaven!  Zach has been constantly looking and I can't wait until we settle on a place and time to go.  We need this so badly!

Ice, Ice, Baby!

So it seems my school corporation did everyone a big favor by letting us out early today. I left me school at 1:00 and was back by my house at 1:30. It ha barely started spitting snow, so I passed by the house for a quick Target run. I was inside for exactly 15 minutes and it was like a snow globe outside. My car was completely covered. I suck at driving in the snow, so I took it slow and got home just fine. Below is what my road looked like after 15 minutes! So Nellie and I have enjoyed an afternoon if dishes, laundry, and playing with my Cricut! Oh, and eating the brownies that I made! Yum! Bonus: USI canceled all night classes and campus, so Zach got to come straight home from his internship! That makes his girls incredibly happy! Now for us to spend quality time together and wait it out to see if either one of us has school tomorrow! Stay warm friends!

Ice day?

So, we're being released from school in about an hour because a big ice storm is headed our way.  Guess that leaves me more time to catch up on the blog!  Nellie will be thrilled too, because of course any day that Mama comes home early is a great day in her book! : )

Guess what Month it is?

I said the above in the voice of the Hump-day camel, just so you know!  It's February and we are doing another No Spend Month in the Scheller household!  Remember the rules?  If not, go check out our experience from last year here .  Now that you're reminded of our rules, let's hope I do better at documenting things this year. (And that we don't have to buy Zach a truck like we had to last year! Ha!) One thing we are doing a little differently is that we are each allowing ourselves one lunch out a week since I go to lunch on Mondays with my friend, Elyse, and Zach goes out with some friends from school on Thursday.  I'm betting that's only $10 combined, though, so I wouldn't say it will break the bank! We are hoping to really save and be able to deposit a good chunk into the ol' savings account because we have some things on our house "to-do" list that are more pricey (Windows- I shudder to think!) and also some general things we want to do
