Call the Waaaa-mbulance

Friday morning I woke up and my throat was hurting, but I figured that it was just my ever-present allergies! (Be jealous I won that genetic jackpot) I took a couple Tylenol throughout the day, but by the time I had gotten home it had worn off and I was pretty near shaking uncontrollably. One look at my throat and I was convinced it was strep. I was so upset because Friday night was our spring carnival at school and Zach and I were signed up to work. I had even told the kids to look for me that night. I nearly cried when I called my principal to let her know I wouldn't be able to make it, but she was wonderfully understanding and told me that they'd get it taken care of.  I actually did cry when I called to tell zach I was sick and needed to go the Dr. I hopped in the car and went to the MOM in Henderson. Thank The Lord they were pretty fast on a Friday evening and I was in and out in a little under an hour. The dr. Didn't even need to do a strep test because my throat look

Birthday week re-cap

This birthday girl is almost all celebrated out!  It's been  week since my birthday, and I'm just getting around to blogging about it! Saturday (the 5th) I already blogged about, but didn't give details about where we went because Zach said I couldn't tell about it until my actual birthday.  Here's the present he got me!! : ) My new china cabinet with our beautiful china and goblets inside! I love it!  So I didn't ever know that Zach got a call back from "Feather Your Nest," but they did sometime during the week, telling him that the sellers accepted his offer!  He told them he'd pick it up Saturday, but of course I didn't know that!  On Saturday morning, he was standing in the living room looking at the wall and turned to me and asked, "Do you think that your china cabinet will fit here?"  Cue squealing and hugs!  We went to pick it up, came home, realized that they didn't give us the glass shelves, had to drive back, and

Birthday week!!

Click for image source It's my birthday week, and I intend to spend all of it celebrating!  It's taken me a while to get excited about my birthday, simply for the reason that if feels like I juuuuust had one.  Now that it's a mere day (and and hour) away, I am allowing myself just to be excited to celebrate a week of me!  haha! The festivities start with my birthday on Wednesday and then continue through the weekend!! Should be a good week!  After all, you only turn 1/4 century once! : )

DIY Chalkboard

I realize that a chalkboard barely warrants a tutorial, so I'm not calling it that.  This is just showing you what I did, and if you want to do it too, well, that's great! I have been wanting a chalkboard for a while, but waiting for a good coupon to Jo-Ann's.  After looking at them multiple times, Zach finally convinced me that I should and could just make my own. Here's what we used: A frame (whatever size you're going for, but I used 18 x 22) A plank of wood, cut to fit in your frame chalkboard paint primer paint (the color you want your frame to be) paintbrush or sponge staple gun/staple or hammer/small nails Step 1: buy yourself a new or old frame.  Bonus points if it includes such a glamorous picture in it as mine.  wink wink Told ya it was nice.  Oh, and double bonus points if you get your husband to help model stuff for you! ; ) Step 2: Remove glass and picture.  (My chalkboard paint said it was not for use on glass.  Not sure if they

Weekend Wrap- Up

On Saturday morning, we tried the whole Taco Bell breakfast attempt over, and Zach got to try it finally.  He liked it, but I don't think he thought it lived up to the hype.  I had a delicious bagel from The Great American Bagel! Umm, it may be missing a bite here! ; ) We then came back home to really get ready for the day and Zach took me somewhere that I can tell about on my actual birthday.  There's really no suspense behind the story, but it is a birthday present, so I figure I should wait till the day to share! Let's just say it took up a lot of our day!! We hadn't had pizza in a while, so Zach ordered it and I picked it up.  We snuggled up on the couch and watched Captain America .  We also watched There's Something About Mary which we got from the library.  We ended the night watching UK win in the final four game against Wisconsin!  I was cheering in bed and scared the crap out of Nellie when I shouted.  Her head bolted up like "Who. dares. dist

Weekly Wrap- Up (March 31- April 4)

Monday was the first day back from Spring Break and it was a looooong one.  I woke up at 4:00 a.m. and couldn't really go back to sleep after that, which majorly sucked.  Nooooot the best way to start back.  The day was good, though, and I got lots of hugs from my sweet kids! : )  Once I got home, I decided I was going to be productive, and I cooked our meals for the week.  I made spinach manicotti, sloppy joe, and tuscan garlic chicken.  They are some of our favorite meals and are relatively healthy (okay, except for the garlic chicken) and are just. so. good.  Bonus points to me for impressing Zach and making him salivate from the moment he entered the door! All our meals! Tuesday was good up until the point when Zach called to tell me that his truck had died at USI and I needed to come get him.  It was already 8:15, so by the time I got there it was 8:30 and we waited with the truck until AAA got there to tow it to our house.  Then we hauled ourselves to his parents' h

Weekend Wrap-Up

I could have combined this w/ Spring Break, but that post was srrrriously long, so I'm being kind! Saturday was another productive day, despite the yucky, drizzly day that awaited us.  We originally planned to get up early to go to yard sales, but when my alarm awoke me and I heard the rain, I turned that sucker off. We got up and tried to hit up Taco Bell's breakfast so Zach could try it, but they said it would be 8 mins. before anything would be ready.   Umm. No thanks.  This lady has places to go and moo-lah to spend.   So instead we had ever-delicious Chick-Fil-A biscuits.  Heaven on Earth...  We then both picked out some new kicks at Kohl's (which I may or not be getting for my b-day.  Time shall tell! ; ))  Then we meandered to downtown Newburgh in search of a picture frame for a project (to come later this week.  It's not groudbreaking, but it's mine!)  We also were browsing for some kind of cart/hutch to go under the TV now that Zach has it mounted on the

Weekend wrap-up (running almost into the next)

This kind of covers the past two weekends. Plus, we've now wallpapered 2 weekends in a row! I painted it though! I loooove the color! Friday (March 7) we went to the library to rent movies and then out for supper at a new place called "Little Italy." I ordered Carbonara!  Zach had chicken Parmesan! We both liked it a lot and will definitely be going back! On Saturday morning, we were lazy and bummed around until time for princess Natalie's 2nd birthday celebration! Her party was Sophia the First themed and so cute! Thrilled with my Sophia button! The princess with her royal parents! It was so sweet, after each gift she opened, they would tell her to say thank you and she would say, "Tank you!" Such a gracious birthday girl! We wallpapered more after Natalie's party and then Mama, Suzanne, and I went to the mall in search of a new dress for an incoming trip! We found one that I loved and thought Zach would really like! The we had Chick-Fil-a and Auntie An
