St. Louis weekend- Grant's Farm

Last weekend, (June 21-22) we went for a quick weekend trip to good ol' St. Louis.  Zach's family had gotten tickets to a Cardinals' game for his Grandpa for father's day, and his parents graciously bought us tickets, too.  We headed out early Saturday morning so we could go to Grant's Farm before the game.  It's perfect that we did, because it ended up only being 3 miles from our hotel.

It was so fun, and it was special because it was both of our first time there!
The house President Grant built!

An elk just chilling in the pond... not a bad idea considering the heat!

One of the two eagles they had.  Both had permanent injuries that make it impossible to fly, so they are in an open area with a fence.  So sad to see such majestic birds hurt, but neat to see them up close and not in a cage!

Best attempt at a very quick selfie.  We were walking thorough the stables and looking at all the old Budweiser stagecoaches and horses.
I was being very serious and telling the camel not to bite me, and Zach captured it.  Pretty funny!

Don't let him fool you.  He really wanted to bite me!  I didn't include all the lovely pictures of him trying!

Excellent!

My sweet hubby!

Excited to be at Grant's Farm for the First time!

One of the Clydesdales!  He was not even standing up and was huge!  They were so pretty!  It was so crowded in the stables, though, we didn't get to stay very long to look at them!!

Family room re-do featuring.... my curtains! : )

For a while now, we've planned on finally finishing our family room.  That's right, it's kind of been unfinished for the entire time we've lived there.  It was painted and decorated, just no molding and the ceiling was hideous because we (and by we, I mean Zach) took down the drop ceiling the previous owners had put up.  So, anyway, I looked at curtains and didn't really find anything I liked, so I decided I was going to make my own.  Zach and I looked at Jo-Ann's a couple times and each time we looked I liked this fabric more and more.  It was the most expensive fabric I've ever bought, but in the end, it was sooooo worth it! (*Note- I bought the fabric in January before NSM! : )) Here we are at Mama Joyce's one day after church cutting the panels.  I think we were all nervous to cut it.  It was too costly to mess up! Fast forward a couple weeks because I didn't have time, was lazy, and also scared to sew on it, and I finally just delved in an...

Turns out...

Third grade is not bad at all! The kids are still pretty sweet and are so excited for me to be there and I am excited too! I think it will be fun to see all that they can do and have fun with them. Yesterday I received 5 notes on my desk about how excited that I was there and about how much fun we were going to have. I think they are right! Hopefully I get the hang of them quickly, because I start teaching Science (Mon and Wed), Social Studies(Tues and Thur), and PE (Fri) next week!

Bumpdate: 41 weeks!

How Far along: 41 weeks.   Baby's size: Size of a jack fruit!  Around 7.5 lbs. (I think he's going to be about 8 lbs and Zach's official guess is 9 lbs. 2 oz.  I hope he's wrong!) Weight loss/gain: 30 lbs. (So glad the weight gain is slowing down!) Sleep: I told Zach I no longer am even trying to keep track of how much I am getting up to go to the bathroom. Gender: B-O-Y Movement:  He has been back to his super active little self this week.  Best Moment of this week:  Getting to spend time at home together now that we're finished with the old house.  Also, the 3 day weekend!  We didn't sleep in, much, but we figure that's all about to end anyway! Looking Forward: Getting to meet our baby boy.  I think it will be a little weird, because I truly don't feel like I'm finished being pregnant yet.  But, alas, we pretty much have to follow Dr.'s orders. Food cravings: Still pineapple!  ...
